The city of Saint Joseph is getting ready to promote its public arts display for the year. At a Monday meeting, city Marketing Director Susan Solon presented commissioners with drafts of some billboards along I-94 that will be used to market the Hot Diggity Dogs display. Exactly which slogans will be used isnt yet finalized, but the mock-ups both had pictures of one of the dog statues, known as Pongo. Solan said that there are 34 artists working on 34 dogs of seven different breeds right now, and theyre due back soon. The statues will go up around the downtown area on May 21st, and stay there through October. Theyre also going to set up a website for the dogs, along with Facebook and Twitter pages. Solan said that the marketing budget has more left for such activities this year, thanks to new cost-cutting measures that have been implemented elsewhere.
